Practice Nonviolence at OPC
Tuesdays, September 29–November 3, 2026
6:00–8:00 p.m.
Doors open and dinner is served at 5:30 p.m.
Nonviolence is more than avoiding harm, it is about taking an active stance towards justice. But in a world full of injustice and violence, how do we find our right place? Join Oakland Peace Center for a six-week introductory training exploring nonviolence as a personal, relational, and collective practice. Through facilitated discussion, reflection, experiential activities, and practical skill-building, participants will strengthen their capacity to navigate conflict, build community, and take meaningful action for justice and peace in their neighborhoods and beyond.
The series will draw from OPC’s Integral Wheel of Nonviolence, engaging themes such as:
- Building connection across differences of race, religion, class, identity, and experience
- Nurturing community, interdependence, and mutual empowerment
- Practicing right sharing and responsible stewardship of resources
- Developing skills for nonviolent action, resistance, and political engagement
- Withdrawing support from violent systems while building nonviolent alternatives
- Cultivating ecological responsibility, health, wholeness, and spiritual practice
No previous nonviolence training or experience is required. We ask that participants commit to attend all six sessions so the group can build trust, deepen its shared practice, and learn together.
